This update introduces new content and features to the game. Not everything will be available straightaway on Tuesday, as some content will roll out over the next 2 months with specific events.
New modes
Monster Trophy

In this mode, 4 players compete to earn the Monster Trophy and win the battle. There are 2 main stages:
Collect 500 gems
Pick up the trophy and survive for 30 seconds
When a player reaches 500 gems and picks up the Monster Trophy, they turn into a huge Kaiju. At that point, their goal is to survive while the other 3 squads try to defeat him.

If the Kaiju-player survives, the battle ends with them as the winner. If they are busted, the trophy is dropped and another player can try to survive.
When a Kaiju-player is busted, they aren't completely defeated. They respawn with their squaddies and most of their gems. They also get to keep the time spent as Kaiju, meaning that if they transform again, they won't have to survive the full 30 seconds (with a minimum of 10 seconds).
Arcade Blitz

This mode is similar to Gem Hunt, also featuring 10 players, but the squad progression is based on Roulette Chests instead of Coin Chests.
Roulette Chests are not only in the map, they can also be opened after busting enemy Squads and monsters.

New features
Leaderboard Events: High Score

Basics:
High Score is a recurring Plaza leaderboard event, available to all players.
Players compete against others of similar skill to complete an objective. This month’s challenge: win in Monster Trophy as fast as possible. The Leaderboard resets daily, giving everyone a fresh chance at top rewards.
High Score events are expected to return regularly.
Rewards:
All the participants get Lucky Boxes, but the higher you place, the more and of higher quality you get. In the future, there may be other prizes, like Skins.
These events will show up in your plaza:

And this is what the leaderboard looks like:

Lucky Boxes

Anyone who hasn't looked in detail into the game mechanics may not know that most chests have predefined rarities. Some are determined by the Chest Cycle, and others though other means; but the randomness of rewards wasn't truly what it appeared.
This update is introducing truly random rewards, known as Lucky Boxes. These boxes can have 5 different rarities and contain many different rewards (coins, babies, multipliers, Hero Points, skins...)
Upgrade Probabilities
Boxes usually start with Common rarity, and have 4 taps with upgrade chances.
The upgrade chances for each rarity are:
- Common to Rare: 50%
- Rare to Epic: 20%
- Epic to Mythic: 10%
- Mythic to Legendary: 5%
Based on the final probabilities, it doesn't look like each tap has an upgrade chance. If it did, getting a Common Box after 4 taps would only happen ~6% of times, but it's supposed to be 50%; as if only one tap happened.
In other words, it seems the tap representation is just a visual choice that matches with the maximum amount of upgrades possible.
This is what the upgrade path for a Common Box looks like:

| Final Rarity | Probability |
|---|---|
| Common | 50% |
| Rare | 40% |
| Epic | 9% |
| Mythic | 0.95% |
| Legendary | 0.05% |

Balance Changes
Hero Balance
[Buff] Barbarian King
These changes should improve a BK Squad’s ability to outlast and eventually overpower faster, squishier enemies.
- DPS: 480 ➜ 600 (+25%)
- Trait 1 Fighter Health Boost: +15% ➜ +30% (+100%)
- Trait 5 Fighter Health Boost: +30% ➜ +50% (+67%)
[Buff] Mortis
Mortis is intended to be able to rush in and out of fights, but despite having a quick turbo he was a bit slow when his turbo tank was empty.
- DPS: 670 ➜ 700 (+25%)
- Base speed increased
- Power 5 Giant Bat lifetime: 6 ➜ 30 seconds (+400%)
Squaddy Balance
[Rework] Bandit
Continuing the theme of "borrowing" funds, Bandit now generates Coins on every attack (with a cooldown) instead of only when busting big enemies.
Bandit now gives coins while attacking.
- Baby (Trait 1): gives 2 coins every 5 seconds
- Super (Trait 2): gives 3 coins every 5 seconds
- Ultimate (Trait 3): gives 3 coins every 3 seconds
[Rework] Chicken
Chicken has always been a good source of turbo boots, but increasing the number of turbos didn’t increase the utility of Chicken. Now a higher evo Chickens can really contribute to the Squad’s speed.
Turbo speed increases based on the evolution.
- Baby (Trait 1): gives 2 Turbo Boots when opening a chest
- Super (Trait 2): increases Turbo Speed
- Ultimate (Trait 3): increases Turbo Speed much more
The speed boosts are:
| Chickens | Baby | Super | Ultimate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | +0% | +10% | +15% |
| 2 | +0% | +15% | +30% |
| 3+ | +0% | +25% | +50% |
[Rework] Goblin
We wanted to make Goblin useful as the match goes on, not only as a one-time Coin influx. Overall, this will result in more Coins generated by Goblin and an increase to his effectiveness.
Goblin now gives coins whenever you open a chest.
- Baby (Trait 1): 5 coins per chest
- Super (Trait 2): 7 coins per chest
- Ultimate (Trait 3): 9 coins per chest
[Rework] Ice Wizard
Ice Wizard now uses his Ice Blasts for every attack, instead of needing to build up to use them. This change aims to remove a layer of micro control from his gameplay and increase his effectiveness at slowing speedy enemies.
Ice Blast is no longer a Super Attack with a counter.
- Baby (Trait 1): nothing
- Super (Trait 2): Ice Blast affects attack and movement speed
Note:
These changes seem inconsistent with the build we had to test, so we'll have to wait for the update to know if they are correct.
[Rework] Nita
It seemed fitting to make Bruce more of a protector for the Squad. Also, makes him much more effective (and Nita as well).
Instead of a healthier Bruce, there's a full squad buff.
- Baby (Trait 1): summons Bruce the Bear
- Super (Trait 2): incoming damage is reduced by 10%
[Rework] Pam
Instead of creating Heal Stations when opening Chests, Pam will now summon them when she takes damage, giving your Squad healing where and when they need it.
Heal Stations spawn after taking damage.
- Baby (Trait 1): a Heal Station is deployed every 10 seconds after losing 10% of her HP
[Buff] Shelly
This should improve Shelly’s role as a reliable damage-dealing Hotshot.
- HP: 2,250 ➜ 2,800 (+24%)
More changes?
There are more changes we weren't able to confirm:
- DPS Increased
- Second Barrel DPS Increased
[Buff] Witch
It’s been a long time since Witch lived up to the promise of being an Epic Squaddie. These changes should make her skeleton army more relevant in a fight.
- Skeleton HP: 600 ➜ 1,500 (+150%)
- Skeleton DPS: 60 ➜ 100 (+67%)
- Elite Skeleton HP: 1,100 ➜ 2,500 (+127%)
- Elite Skeleton DPS: 90 ➜ 150 (+67%)
